Acid victims to get reservation

NewDelhi, June 22: A good news for victims. The central government will soon give them reservation in central government jobs and promotions for acid attack victims, Autism, Mentally disabled people.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has prepared a draft proposal in this regard. The draft circulated clearly indicated the vacancies, promotion quotas and an age relaxation for those with disabilities.

Sources say that the central government proposal to give reservation may face legal hurdles because the matter relating to reservation in promotion for persons with disabilities is pending before the Supreme Court of India.

DOPT said that the vacancies proposed are for the posts of office assistants to Indian Administrative Service officers. Currently government gives 4 % reservations for A, B, C, diabilityD posts for disabled persons.

The reservation quota was increased by the passage of disability benefits bill by the Parliament . Guidelines clearly indicate that 4 % of the total number of vacancies in the cadre strength in each group of posts will be reserved for persons with benchmark disabilities.Finally, the department said the reservation given will be not adjusted in SC and ST.
