Two fake doctors arrested in Kurnool

Andhra Pradesh: Kurnool, June 21: Here Three fake doctors arrested in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district here on Tuesday.

While coming to details, The arrested are Narendra, a B.Tech Graduate; his wife Jyoti, who studied till Class 12; and his brother-in-law, Raghvendra, a B.Com graduate. They all claimed to be MBBS and were treating patients and even prescribing medicines.

The police have also sealed two hospitals JP Children's Super Specialty Hospital and Vijaya Gowri Hospital run by them.

An officer said they received a tip-off about fake doctor rackets prevalent in both hospitals.

The vigilance department conducted a probe and sent a Home Guard to one of the hospitals. He feigned a minor stomach ache and the doctors put him on fluids, starting the treatment.



The department also sent a woman, who posed as a patient. The doctors told her that she needed surgery and this is when the vigilance teams raided the hospitals.

The two hospitals were also running a pharmacy without any permission.

Sivakoti Babu Rao, regional vigilance enforcement officer, said, "These people are playing with the lives of patients. Investigations show they were running this operation since 2013 and have even performed surgeries. Records show they have claimed about Rs 32 lakh from the government for Employee's State Insurance Corporation reimbursement. Further inquiry is on to find out how they obtained a license."

The District medical and health department also raised concerns after the raids.
