Europe Court strikes down Russias Controversial Law

Moscow Russia, June 21: A court has given a shock to a country. A European Court today has struck down a Russian law. The law bans the expressions of gay propaganda. The court has said that the law is discriminatory and has ordered Russia to pay compensation to three gay rights activists.

Experts feel that the Judgement announced by the court will lead to the rise of conflicts with Europe over Russia's treatment of gays and lesbians.

European Court of Human Rights has said that "law adopted by Russia in 2013 will reinforce the stigma and prejudice of different people in the society and will encourage homophobia and such laws are incompatible with the values of present democratic society".

A case was filed by gay activists against the country in Europe. The court also said that the current law violates European Convention on Human Rights in which Russia is a member. The European convention assures basic freedom of expression and a prohibits discrimination.

Let's hope that all countries respect all communities and don't favor any community so that there would be no Social Unrest.
