Group of 7 Maoists surrendered in Vizianagaram

Andhra Pradesh: Vizianagaram, June 21: A group of 7 Maoists has surrendered before the Vizianagaram SP LKV Ranga Rao from Odisha border here on Tuesday.

They were vexed with the way the Maoists were functioning, said a release issued by the police department.

The identities of those surrendered has been kept under wraps as the district police do not wish to endanger their lives. Even their place of residence has been kept a secret.

The release further said that the police have initiated interaction programs in several Maoist-infested areas to convince tribals to join mainstream society.

The SP observed that other awareness program concerning management of resources and creation of microeconomic clusters will be taken up with the help of ITDA and GCC.
