TS announce Single licensing policy in agriculture markets

Hyderabad June 21: The state government has brought a new policy to ensure that the merchant's license to purchase crops in agricultural markets is valid anywhere in the state.

The proposal by the marketing department has been signed by CM KCR on the file.

The Telangana government on Tuesday has announced its decision to have a single licensing policy in agriculture markets in the state.

Giving effect to the policy, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao signed the proposal. Traders who owned a license at a particular market were not able to purchase goods in another market which resulted in less competition in the agriculture markets.

Farmers were deprived of a higher price for their produce.

However, the new policy allows competition among traders to purchase the goods.

Already in Telangana, in the 'National Farm Market' scheme, 44 online markets are making online purchases. From the single licensing system, any business in the state can now buy crops online from any market. The marketing department said that a new policy will help farmers crush the syndicate of local traders.
