Kovind resigns as Bihar Governor,

New Delhi June 20: Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind resigned from his post here on Tuesday, a day after he was picked as NDA's Presidential nominee.

We knew that Kovind will file his nomination papers on June 23.

From this perspective, President Pranab Mukherjee has accepted Kovind's resignation while giving West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi additional charge of Bihar.

A statement from Pranab Mukherjee's office said that "The President of India is pleased to appoint Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi, Governor of West Bengal to discharge the functions of the Governor of Bihar, in addition to his own duties, until regular arrangements for the office of the Governor of Bihar is made."

We already knew that The BJP on Monday announced the name of 71-year-old Kovind, a low-profile Dalit leader, and a two-term BJP Rajya Sabha member, as its nominee for the president's post.

The presidential election is scheduled for July 17.

We also knew that Pranab Mukherjee completes his five-year term on July 24.
