President Pranab Mukherjee rejects 30 mercy petetions

NewDelhi June 18: Indias first citizen term is coming to an end. President Pranab Mukherjee has rejected two more mercy petitions in last week of May. Until now he has rejected 30 numbers of mercy petitions.

President has rejected the mercy petitions of cases involving 2012 rape and murder of a 4 -old girl in Indore by three men, and 2007 sexual assault and murder of a techie in Pune by a taxi driver and his friend.Sources say that says that President has cleared all the mercy petitions and there is no pending list.

Some of the petitions he rejected include those of 2008 Mumbai terror attack convict Ajmal Kasab, 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. Former President Pratibha Patil has granted clemency to 34 convicts during her tenure.
