Dharna staged against Power interruptions

Chittoor, June 18: The residents of Krishnapuram of Pakala Mandal have staged a protest in front of the area sub-station in Chittoor district here on Saturday, complaining of prolonged power interruptions and fluctuations during the last three months.

They said that they had been facing a severe problem with power supply, particularly during the night.

A drizzle or gusty wind is enough for power to be interrupted for several hours, sometimes even for the whole day.

Ever since the monsoon started early this month, their problem got aggravated and repeated requests to officials at the sub-station failed to bring any solution to it, they said.

The protest for about an hour left traffic stranded on the prime rural road connected to the Bengaluru NH, forcing the Pakala circle police to intervene.Engineering personnel attached to the sub-station arrived at the venue and assured the villagers that the problem would be rectified.

They informed the police that some small repairs were required at the sub-station.
