Chittor Police stopped 3 Child marriages

Chittoor, June 17: The Chittoor Police and volunteers of NGOs have stopped three child marriages at three villages in the western Mandal of Chittoor district here on Friday.

while coming o the matter, The rescue parties formed by the Women's Association for Liberation, Transformation and Community Health (Watch), Rural Organisation for Poverty Eradication Services (Ropes), Childline 1098 along with the police led the raids.

In the first incident, the marriage of a 15-year-old girl of Seemanapalle of Peddapanjani Mandal was fixed with a 35-year-old farm worker. Both sides entered the agreement to protect their properties, being distantly related to each other.

In the incident at Vankagadda Palle hamlet of Kalikiri Mandal, a 14-year-old girl's marriage was fixed with a 23-year-old B.Tech student in Bengaluru.

At Pedda Tippa Samudram village of Tamballapalle Assembly constituency, a couple working as farm laborers fixed their 14-year-old daughter's marriage with a 28-year-old daily wager.
