AP DGP Sambasiva Rao warned institutions to prevent Ragging

Vijayawada, June 17: The Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) N. Sambasiva Rao has warned the managements of educational institutions should take measures to prevent ragging here on Friday.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Sambasiva Rao said the managements should constitute anti-ragging committees with parents, staff, and students and keep a vigil at vulnerable places on the institute premises.

"Professional, PG and degree colleges should follow the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) to check the menace. If not, action would be taken against the abettors and the officials and the Institute staff who failed to prevent ragging," the DGP warned.

At a program held in the city, the North Zone Police organized an awareness meeting against ragging in Sarada College and explained the salient features of the Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1997.

Students may call 'Dial 100', Four Lion App or Mahila Rakshak Teams to alert the police or for any help, ACP Ramesh said.
