Cricket Betting racket busted, 11 held

Nellore, June 17: The Police have arrested Eleven persons, who were allegedly caught in the charges of cricket betting in Prakasam and Nellore districts here on Friday.

While coming to the matter, The 5 persons were arrested for allegedly indulging in betting in Ongole. India was engrossed in an absorbing contest with Bangladesh in the second semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy at Birmingham.

A police party nabbed the punters who were allegedly involved in ball-by-ball betting in a hide-out near Rangarayudcheruvu. The police said a laptop, 16 mobile phones, and Rs. 2.70 lakh in cash used by them for betting were seized.

The Six persons were arrested here in connection with cricket betting in Balajinagar area in Nellore on Friday.

A sum of Rs. 20,000 was recovered from their possession.
