MSP increased seed Prices reduced for farmers

NewDelhi June 17: A good news for Farmers. The Central government has increased the minimum support price (MSP) offered to farmers for the year 2017-18. The MSP of following crops have been increased

* pulses.
* oil-seeds.
* cotton.

Sources say that the government has increased maximum MSP for pulses because of the highest output of 22.40 million tons (MT) in the 2016-17 crop year. Minister said that the record production was attributed to good monsoon, higher MSP, and better procurement arrangement.

The MSP of some of the crops are as follows

* Tur (arhar) :Rs 5,450 per quintal.
* Urad : Rs 5,400 per quintal.
* Moong Dal : Rs 5,575 per quintal.
* Groundnut-in-shell :Rs 4,450 per quintal.
* Soyabean :Rs 3,050 per quintal.
* Sunflower seed :Rs 4,100 per quintal.
* sesamum : Rs 5,300 per quintal.

Meanwhile, seed companies have also shared a good news by Reducing the seed prices by 10 per cent.However, the price cut to be effective from June 19. The companies have agreed to cut the prices after the meeting with UnionAgriculture Minister Rada Mohan Singh.
