Serbia appoints first Gay Woman Prime Minister

Serbia, June 16: A history has been created today. Serbia has appointed a gay woman as the new Prime Minister of the country. Ana Brnabic who is 41- year old, a graduate of University of Hull in England was appointed as the new Prime Minister.

The appointment of her as PM assumes significance because last week Ireland has appointed Leo Varadkar as the first gay Prime Minister. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has chosen his successor Brnabic because the Former Prime Minister has his election as president in April.

Brnabic has entered the politics in 2016 and she became Serbia's first gay minister. She has headed the ministry for public administration and local self-government. She has passed out of university in 2001 later she has worked in the wind power industry of her home country.

Let's hope that she performs her duty well and be a role model for other countries so that LGBT community rights are not ignored to build an equal and prosperous world.
