Hyderabad, October 20 : As many as 76 dengue cases registered within a short period of 18 days in October month shows how the disease is spreading fast in Hyderabad. About 176 people become dengue victims in the last six months.Dengue spreads fast due to poor sanitation, mosquitoes, piles of garbage etc.Besides Dengue, people are also suffering with diphtheria, chicken gunya, diarrhea, typhoid and other diseases.
The ever increasing number of patients visiting the hospital is adversely affecting the services. The rush is continuing even after special counters were opened for out patients. According to doctors, dengue cases are on rise compared to last year.
Meanwhile, a few corporate hospitals are cashing out on the situation and collecting huge sums from patients suffering with dengue fever. They are charging minimum of Rs. 65,000 for injecting three units platelets into the patient?s body. This fee, along with room rent, medicines etc are becoming a burden.
Several people are unable to bear the high fees are making a beeline to the fever hospital.
Children are more prone to get diphtheria due to low resistance power.
