TTD EO Bhaskar launched Mobile Blood Van

Tirupati, June 15: The TTD Joint Executive Officer Bhaskar has launched a 'Mobile Blood Van' on the occasion of world donor day here on Wednesday.

He also assured financial assistance for procurement of Mobile Blood Van for the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), through the contributions of donors.

Speaking at a program held on the 'World Blood Donor Day' at the varsity, under the auspices of the Department of Transfusion Medicine/Blood Bank, he stressed the importance of organizing awareness programs on 'blood donation'.

With the temple city being an 'educational hub', he opined services of scores of students could be utilized for increasing the number of voluntary blood donations.

SVIMS Director-cum-Vice Chancellor T.S. Ravikumar said they would strive to make the existing facility, the model blood bank, and also transform it into a 'Blood Transfusion Centre' with assistance from TTD and the State government.

Later, blood donors and voluntary organizations, who contributed to SVIMS blood bank regularly, were felicitated.
