Subhash Palekar appointed as AP Advisor

Andhra Pradesh: Amaravati, June 15: The Andhra Pradesh State government has appointed the natural farming expert Subhash Palekar as AP advisor here on Wednesday.

The government has also asked him to start natural farming University at the Capital city of Amaravati.

He will advise the government on formulating policies and creating a framework to foster organic farming in the State.

Mr. Palekar met Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at his residence near here on Wednesday. Mr. Naidu assured him that the government would allot 100 acres for the university. The Chief Minister also promised to invest Rs. 100 crore on the project.

The government has set a target of making AP 100% organic farming State. The government has also planned to discourage use of harmful chemicals and fertilizers in agriculture, he said.

Stating that the State government was providing Internet connection to every house in the State under the AP Fiber Grid Project, Mr. Naidu suggested the organic farming expert share his experiences with the farmers through video conferences.

Responding to Mr. Palekar's suggestion to set up a bio-gas plant in every village of the State, the Chief Minister said solar power can be used during daytime while biogas can be used during the night.
