Earthquake hits Mexico Border

Mexico June 15: A natural disaster has occurred yesterday.A earthquake has occurred in western Guatemala located near the border of the Mexico. The magnitude of the earthquake was recorded as 6.9 on Richter scale.Sources say that homes were damaged partially and landslides occurred along the highways.

Officials report that 2 people were dead and 1 was injured during the quake which took place on Wednesday. The U.S. Geological Survey said that the tremor was centered 5 miles southwest of Tajumulco and at occurred at a depth of 69 miles. Guatemala's emergency coordination agency told media that the quake struck at 1:29 a.m. local time.

However, no Tsunami warning was issued. Officials said that electricity cables were damaged at lot places in the country and they are restoring them. Finally, citizens were offered help by local volunteers to minimize the damage caused.
