Kakinada to get Petro-Chemical Complex

East Godavari, June 14: The representatives of HPCL and GAIL have met the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to the review of proposed petrochemical complex at Kakinada in East Godavari district here on Tuesday.

He wanted them to submit a report in next 10 days.

Senior officials of the HPCL and the GAIL made a presentation on the requirement of Viability Gap Funding (VGF) for the project on Tuesday.

They also presented a preliminary project feasibility report and the product configuration for setting up of the petrochemical complex.

Financial feasibility, sourcing of the input chemicals such as ethane, propane and naphthene, and tentative plans for the import of chemicals through the ports Kakinada Sea Ports Limited (KSPL) or Kakinada Special Economic Zone Port (KSEZP), pre-project activities like environmental clearance, licensor selection, topographical survey, route and pipeline survey for the injection of ethane, raw water etc. were also discussed.

The cost of the petrochemical complex will be Rs. 37,000 crore and it will generate direct employment for around 1,000 persons and indirect employment to 30,000.

Responding to it, Mr. Naidu suggested them to revise their plans taking the GST regime into consideration.

GAIL (India) Limited Chairman and Managing Director of B.C. Tripathi and others were present.
