Private AP buses seized by Transport Department

Amaravati, June 14: The Andhra Pradesh government has issued instructions to seize private buses whose registration has been canceled by Arunachal Pradesh here on Tuesday.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of transport department officials with chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu. The decision will be implemented by special teams formed by the transport department.

The orders in this regard were issued to transport officials in all districts besides instructions to state Road Transport Corporation to make alternate arrangements for stranded passengers.

Nearly 900 private buses whose registrations were canceled by Arunachal Pradesh government are likely to be impacted.

The Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh called up MP Kesineni Nani on Tuesday and told him to avoid speaking on the issue of private operators plying buses whose registration was canceled by Arunachal Pradesh.

However, It may be recalled that 900 buses plied by private bus operators were registered in Arunachal Pradesh. The latter recently canceled the registrations of those buses but they were still being operated by travel agencies in Andhra Pradesh.

In this perspective, Kesineni condemned the attitude of the AP Road Transport Authority for failing to take action on the bus operators.
