Earthquake hits Turkey and Greece

Ankara, Turkey June 13: A natural disaster took place yesterday.A powerful earthquake occurred in western Turkey's Izmir province on Monday. The magnitude of the earthquake was recorded as 6.2 on Richter scale.

Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said that the quake hit Izmir's Karaburun district at depth of 22.98 kilometers.They have also said that no causalities have been reported till now.

Dr. Suha Ozden a Faculty of Engineering Geology Department has warned about quake aftershocks and people must be careful. He said that we can experience aftershocks that can range between 4.9 and 5.2 magnitudes in the upcoming days because of the nature of earthquakes.

Sources say that Greece was also affected by the earthquake that occurred between the Greek islands of Lesbos and Chios on Monday.and all people are safe. Officials have urged people to report any damage or loss of life so that they can conduct a rescue operation.
