G-4 nations express disapointment over UNSC reforms

New York June 13: A global meeting took place today. G-4 nations which include Brazil, Germany, Japan, and India have discussed United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Reforms. The countries have expressed their opinion on various issues such as membership, the question of veto and regional representation, at the Intergovernmental Negotiations (IGN).

India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Syed Akbaruddin, delivered a joint statement on behalf of the G-4 nations. He said that in the next session when the IGN enters its 10th year it would give a way for the transition of the negotiations held today into reality.

Sources say that the nations have acknowledged that abolition of veto is politically difficult. Current scenario clearly depicts a reality that nonpermanent members opinion regarding peace deals are not considered.

The nations have expressed their disappointment for not having even a single permanent member from African continent which has 54 countries. Finally Akbaruddin ended his speech by saying that Time has come for Global countries to accept changes and must reform UNSc so that all countries get equal participation in the council.
