TS govt alert after Bhubaneswar fire mishap

Hyderabad, October 20: The Telangana government became alert after a major fire in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar that claimed 20 lives two days ago and is taking preventive measures to avoid fire accidents. The fire safety rules will be made stringent and regular monitoring will be done to ensure safety.

The officials warned of strict action against anyone who violates the rules. NOCs (No Objection Certificates) were issued to 68 hospitals in the State so far. They suggested all the hospitals with a height of above 50 meters must take NOCs.

Mock drill has been organized in about 77 hospitals this year and alerted the managements. The officials are preparing special plans to prevent fire accidents. They will check district-wise reports and notices will be issued to those who don?t follow the rules and regulations.

The officials found out that six hospitals in the State are not following the safety rules of fire service department. They are - Pabba Super Specialty Heart Centre in Karimnagar, Teliparamitra Childerns Hospital in Saroornagar, ESI corporation academy in Sanathnagar, ESI corporation building, Srikara hospital in Secunderabad, Matrix hospital in Ramanthapur and Indo-US hospital in Malakpet and enquiry is going on.

The officials said surprise visits will be conducted to hospitals, shopping malls, theatres etc which have a lot of public visiting.
