AP towards 100 % Aadhaar card registration

Vijayawada, October 19 : With 93 per cent of population getting Aadhaar card, the AP government is going for 100 per cent registration. The government has sped up it's process to issue Aadhaar cards to the remaining population also at the earliest. The public is also coming forward to get the card since it was linked with government schemes.

The then UPA government had introduced Aadhaar system which now becomes compulsory to get the benefits of government schemes, fee reimbursement, cooking gas subsidy etc. Aadhaar card number is needed even for admission of children in schools or to open a bank account.

To ease the heavy rush of people, the AP government set up several registration counters, where finger prints and optometrics would be collected. Now Mee Seva centres have also taken up the works of Aadhaar registration and issue. Besides, corrections are also done at these centres.

According to official reports, about 4.55 crore of more than five crore AP population have got their Aadhaar cards.
