GST brings Diwali in June

Mumbai June 6: A good news for customers who buy electronic Items. The retailers are offering a discount in the range of 20-40 % of Costly home appliances such as electronic goods.

Generally, retailers don't offer huge discounts in summer. Experts say that the shopkeepers want to clear their old inventory before GST kicks in from July 1 so they are attracting customers.

The prices of the following items have been reduced
* Television-sets,
* Refrigerators,
* Air-conditioners
* Washing machines



Discounts on above items range depending on the life of the old stock and the price. Samsung, Panasonic, Hitachi, and Videocon are offering consumer promotional offers such as gifts and extended warranties - to boost sales.

Sources say that retailers generally offer a discount of 10-15 per cent on maximum retail price (MRP), but now the range may increase by three-fold. However, retailers feel that they may face a loss if they don't clear stocks before the month end.
