Union Minister Abbas Naqvi reacted to ban on cattle sale

New Delhi, June 2: The Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has reacted to the centre's decision of ban on cattle sale here on Wednesday.

Abbas Naqvi said that, The government will not allow individuals and groups of people or political parties seeking to hold 'beef parties' with criminal intent to provoke a section of people and aimed at destroying peace and harmony in the country.

Speaking to reporters at the state BJP headquarters here, Naqvi also said that the regulation of cattle sale was designed to address an important issue of illegal slaughtering of cattle for meat.

In such cases, the minister said, there were no checks on the health of the animal being slaughtered and this, in turn, posed a risk to the health of the people of the country.

Answering a question on the Telangana government's plans to increase reservations for Muslims to 12% from the existing 4%, Naqvi said, "everybody knows constitutionally it is not possible on the basis of religion.

The question is why people are being misled like this. May be it is so that they can claim later that they tried but the Centre did not allow it to happen."

Naqvi said that the BJP government at the Centre over the past three years showed that it's possible to govern without appeasing any section of the society.
