Mission Bhagiratha water to reach Dalit homes first

Hyderabad, October 17: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao said Mission Bhagiratha should start by supplying water to Dalit and tribal habitations, by fixing household tap connections. At a review meeting, the CM directed the Mission Bhagiratha officials to complete works of taking water from Godavari and Krishna rivers to all the villages by December-end 2017.

Providing tap connection to every household was the most important work under Mission Bhagiratha, he added. Works of intake wells, water treatment plants, fitting motor pump-sets and other related works should be completed by December ending next year.

The CM said Dalits and tribal habitations should be given water first since they were neglected all these years and directed the project officials and district collectors to monitor the works going on at ground level, frequently.

KCR told the officials of electricity department to provide uninterrupted power supply to Mission Bhagiratha. He directed the officials to purchase motors, pumping machinery, electro-mechanical equipment from BHEL.

He also spoke to BHEL CMD Atul Somti over phone during the review meeting and sought him to supply of motors of 50 HP to 1000 HP power. He told the government officials and BHEL authorities should hold a meeting at the earliest to come to an understanding on the supply of equipment.
