Srikakulam, MAY 28: A good news for coconut farmers. The GST Council has decided not to impose any tax on the farmers who grow coconut trees.
The decision comes in the wake of protests made by farmers and other community people against the draft proposal to impose a GST rate of 5 percent. The GST Council has added the plantation crop under essential items which are exempted.
Finally, the farmers are happy because they would not have taken to additional burden because of the tax imposed. Let's hope that the government will continue taking decisions in public interest in future also.
