Police arrested Fake Baba

Hyderabad, May 27: Police officials has been arrested the Fake Baba here on Friday, on charges of cheating people. According to the police officials Information, Mohammed Akram Baba (32), had posed as a godman and collected a large sum of money after promising solutions to people who approached him with their problems.

According to the police G Sattaiah, Inspector Chaderghat said Akram was into fake godman business from last two years. His followers, apart from people in the same locality, included many others who came from Mehdipatnam and Yakutpura.



Police further added that "He talked politely and gained their trust and collected Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 from each person, after which he gave them a talisman."

The deceit was exposed by a woman, who approached the police stating that Akram, after taking Rs 12,000 from her, had promised to unite her with her estranged husband, but failed to do so.

Based on her complaint, a case for cheating under Section 420 of the IPC and relevant sections of The Drugs and Magic Remedies Act was booked against him and he was arrested.
