Cyber Crime Police busted Credit Card Fraud Gang

Hyderabad, May 25: The Cybercrime Police have arrested a credit card fraud gang of three persons including a woman here on Wednesday, who were cheating people by pretexting to updating the credit card details such as card number, CVV number, and others from various people.

While coming to details, The accused woman, posing as an SBI representative had allegedly made calls to customers with credit cards and fraudulently obtained their details. She then changed the registered mobile numbers of customers with the help of IVR (Internet Voice Recorder) and made transactions to her Paytm wallets.

The suspects were identified as Nimishakavi Lakshmi Madhavi alias Madhavi (24), a resident of Lingampally, Kaveri Kiran Yadav (30), a resident of Bakaram, Musheerabad, Kandkatla Santosh Kumar (30), a sweet vendor and a resident of Subash Nagar, Moula Ali.

According to the police, a complaint was lodged by the Assistant Manager, Legal Department of SBI Cards and Payment Services Private Limited, Begumpet stating that they were getting complaints about fake calls and that their customers were falling prey to these. So far, about 12 customers were cheated to the tune of Rs 2 lakh.

Police said Madhavi, a Computer Science graduate worked in a Tele-caller center for a year, where she gained experience in calling and convincing customers in selling insurance policies. She purchased five SIM cards with fake IDs. Posing as an SBI representative she made calls to credit card customers from her residence.

"On the pretext of redeeming reward points to their credit cards, she obtained details of the credit card, changed registered mobile numbers of customers with the help of Internet Voice Recorder facility provided by SBI credit cards department, and then made transactions," police said.

Kiran Yadav and Santhosh Kumar would get 30 percent commission for helping her. Police seized Rs 60,000 and phones from the suspects.
