International Cricketer of the Year Award

Mumbai, May 24: Indian carrom ball specialist Ravichandran Ashwin has been awarded the International Cricketer of the Year at the CEAT Cricket Rating International awards 2017, here on Wednesday

coming to details, The award was presented by former Indian legend and skipper Sunil Gavaskar at the Cricket Club of India.

Ashwin was central to India's domination during the successful home season, where India won 10 of their 13 Tests played against New Zealand, England, Bangladesh, and Australia.

Ashwin has picked up 99 wickets in last 12 months and was the deserving winner of the coveted recognition.



Speaking on the occasion, Ashwin recalled that his first autograph which he had taken was from Gavaskar at the Chepauk stadium in Chennai.

Ashwin received the award from Sunil Gavaskar and Harsh Goenka, Chairman of RPG Enterprises, at a function held at the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai.

"The first scar which you will inflict will always have value and he initially bowled well. The pace and the length which he hit were very very critical," said Ashwin.
