Reliance Jio complains to TRAI

NEW DELHI, MAY 23: Another big blow to major telecom operators. Reliance Jio has filed a complaint against Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea to Telecom regulatory authority of India TRAI.

The company complained that the current top 3 operators did not deposit requisite license fee in March. The JIo has made allegations that these company had made a potential loss of Rs 400 crore to the government.

Company chairman Mukesh Ambani said that the major mobile operators have violated license rules wilfully and intentionally.

He also said that these companies just paid the advance license fee for last quarter of 2016-17 on the basis of estimated adjusted gross revenue (AGR). He further added that the amount paid was less than the fee paid for the third quarter of last financial year.

The company revealed that Airtel has paid Rs 150 crore less to the government, Vodafone paid Rs 200 crore less as compared to Rs 746.8-crore license fee it paid in the third quarter, similarly, Idea had paid Rs 60 crore less fee.

Finally, the Company has asked the regulatory body to look into the matter. Let's wait to know whether Trai reacts to Jios complaint and it orders companies to pay rs 400 crores.
