SI suspended after youth commits suicide

Karimnagar, October 14: Alleging that the police was responsible for a youth's suicide, the villagers of Manakondur in Karimnagar district attacked the police station on Thursday night and destroyed the furniture.

Karimnagar Police Commissioner Kamalasan Reddy rushed to the spot and reviewed the situation. According to information, four youth were taken into custody for assaulting SI Vamshi Krishna during Rathotsavam in Manakondur.

A case was filed against them. The police released the four youth following the request of the Sarpanch, but on condition that they would be produced in the police station on the next morning.

One of the four youth, Sravan allegedly committed suicide. The relatives alleged that Sravan hanged himself as he was depressed about the police beating.

District Collector directed the MRO to conduct postmortem. Police Commissioner Kamalasan Reddy suspended SI Vamshi Krishna and assured of taking action against gunmen and constables.

The MLA Rasamayi Balakishan promised government help to the deceased family and homeguard job to Sravan's father and allotment of double bedroom house.
