Rajyasabha: Elections to be held in June

AHMEDABAD MAY 18: Elections to ten Rajya Sabha seats will be held on June 8, 2017 . Out of 10 seats, 3 are from Gujarat state.

Rajyasabha officials have said that MPS Smriti Irani, Ahmed Patel, Dilip Pandya term will end in August.
The above MPS represent upper house from PM Modi's home state.

The Election Commission of India will issue an official notification regarding the election on May 22. ECI is the body responsible for conducting elections when a seat lies vacant.

Sources say that it is crucial for BJP to win these elections so that they can improve their strength in the house.

Political analysts have indicated that both parties will re-nominate their candidates so that they can retain their seats.

Finally, the poll results will have a significant impact in the future assembly elections which will be held later this year.
