IBM India to remove 5000 employees is false

Bengaluru May 17: One of the top most IT company is IBM news regarding this IT Giant company is doing rounds that IBM firing 5000 employees were factually incorrect and that it was continuing to re-skill and rebalance its employee workforce.

According to the Media reports on Tuesday had said the technology giant was laying off 5000 employees in India, joining the ranks of Cognizant, InfosysBSE -0.80 % and WiproBSE -1.11 % in shedding jobs.

"This is factually incorrect. We are not going to comment further on rumors and speculation. Re-skilling and rebalancing is an ongoing process as we accelerate the benefits of cognitive and cloud technologies for clients around the world," a spokesperson for IBM said in an email.



As per the sources with knowledge of the matter told ET that when IBM had let-go off 200 employees in a business unit last year, it had done so in a staggered manner over six months. The source added that the 5000 number was not accurate.
