Hyderabad registered a heavy rain fall

Hyderabad, May 10: A huge hailstorm hit the Hyderabad city along with strong winds and heavy rains were continued for hours, which are severely damaged the city for the first time this year on Tuesday.

The Strong winds blowing at around 50-60 kmph and uprooted trees and billboards across the city. Several low-lying areas in were found inundated.

As part of the hailstorm, big size of ice glaciers was fallen, especially in SR Nager, Ameerpet, Sanath Nagar, Srinagar colony, and Begumpet including various places.Due to the storm, the traffic also has struck by the damage of power wires across the city.

Traffic was disrupted at many areas in Kapra, Qutubullahpur, Shamsabad and in many other places in the heart of the city. Complaints were received about breaking of window panes.
The rains also lashed the many crop fields of chilli, rice and many mangoes are fallen to the ground.

Emergency squads of GHMC, electricity and disaster management were alerted. In Jubilee Hills, fire incident took place due to electric wires joining together. Fire brigade controlled the fire immediately.

Dy. Mayor of GHMC, Mr. Baba Fasihuddin visited Yousufguda, Banjara Hills and other areas. He instructed municipal officials to take action.



In the old city of Hyderabad, Charminar, Shah Ali Banda, Chandrayangutta, Yakutpura, Kalapatthar, Engine Bowli, Tadband etc. heavy rains continued for an hour.

Meanwhile, The Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao went active on twitter directing the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation officials to get the emergency teams positioned on the city roads. The GHMC twitter handle responded in an affirmative claiming all the emergency teams were alerted.

People can dial 100 in case of emergency as all the emergency services have been linked to it.
Heavy rain also lashed other parts of the state including, Mahbubabad, Bhadradri, Jayashankar, Khammam, Asifabad, Adilabad, Siddipet, Jangaon and Rangareddy districts.

The IMD has said that thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds is likely to occur at isolated places in all districts of TS on Wednesday.
