Man murdered,while asking for match-box

Hyderabad, May 09: Here a man murdered by a group of locals just for asking a match box at Sanjay Nagar in Borabanda on Sunday night.

In-depth into the matter, The victim, Md Amer, 26, of Allapur in Borabanda was working for electrical contractor Basheer. Amer had a criminal history and he was an accused in a murder case registered in the Madhapur police station in 2015.

According to police, Amer started consuming liquor with friends at an open place in Sanjay Nagar since Sunday afternoon.

"Around 9 pm, Amer came and asked me for Rs 200 to purchase liquor. I gave him money and a little while later, a youngster came and told me that he was stabbed by a group of people," Basheer told police in his statement.

During the preliminary investigation, police found that Amer's acquaintance, Narender alias Kanna and his friends also consumed liquor at a nearby location on Sunday night. "Amer used to threaten Narender and forcibly take money from him to purchase liquor. While they were consuming liquor, Narender asked Amer for a matchbox."

"Amer abused Narender for asking him a matchbox despite knowing that he was a non-smoker. While Amer was about to leave the place, Narender called him back. Narender and his three friends stabbed Amer 15 times with knives," Jubilee Hills inspector S Venkat Reddy said.

Amer died on the spot with critical injuries. Police launched a manhunt and reportedly apprehended the culprits on Monday night from their hideout in Borabanda.

The family members of the victim alleged that it was a pre-planned murder and a case was registered under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
