High Court issues notice to river Ganga

Dehradun, MAY 1: We all know that court gives notices to persons and organisations. Yesterday the High court of Uttarakhand has issued notices to River Ganga.

The High court had earlier said that "River Ganga is a Living person since it is perennial river".The high court has given notice to the river while hearing the case filed by Swaroop Singh.

The case details are Mr Swaroop had opposed the Uttarakhand Government decision to install a dust bin on the bank of river Ganga at Rishikesh.

His main objection was that establishing a dust bin on the bank of the river will pollute the river and the environment present there.

After the examination of the petition, Justice Alok Singh has ordered river Ganga, Rishikesh Municipal officers to reply by May 8.

Let's Hope that River Ganga will defend itself in the High Court.
