Hyderabad, October 5: The SIT officials questioned TRS leader and market committee former chairman Chintala Venkateswar Reddy for about three hours in the wake of allegations of financial transactions with gangster Nayeem.

The grilling will continue for another three times and the complete data would be put together before Dasara festival. Once this data was prepared, the SIT might arrest several leaders and police officials in Nalgonda district.

So far regarding Nayeem, 155 cases were registered and 95 accused were held. Eight persons voluntarily surrendered. PT warrants issued to 195 persons. As many as 72 persons were in SIT custody and PT warrants issued to 175.

The DGP wrote a letter to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao requesting to accord special powers to SIT in the wake of allegations against political leaders and police officials of having financial transactions with Nayeem.

If the government gives green signal to this request, then the SIT will have a chance to issue notices and question the erring political leaders and officials.
