Visakhapatnam, October 5: Finally there is progress in the flyover proposed to be constructed at NAD junction in Visakhapatnam with the AP government preparing plans for the project. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu suggested constructing the flyover with VUDA funds but the works may be conducted with the Central Roads and Transport ministry funds since Union Minister Nitin Gadkari allotted Rs 65,000 crores for national highways and flyovers in AP.
Then the Centre will accumulate land and funds for purchasing the lands for the flyover. Traffic snarls have become a daily issue at NAD junction since this is the major junction which links prime areas in Vizag.
All sections of people pass through this junction for their daily chores and the heavy traffic is causing several accidents. The locals were happy as a flyover was being constructed here. The flyover at Dwaraka Nagar was not feasible for heavy vehicles due to low quality.
The experts are concerned the same problem may rise regarding the NAD flyover. They requested the government to maintain quality and transparency in the construction of this flyover.
