Bathukamma fest aims to enter Guinness book

With the Telangana government aiming to garner world recognition for the Bathukamma festival, an embodiment of the socio, cultural ethos of Telangana people, the Ministers requested the people to make the 'Maha Bathukamma' a big success, to be organized at LB Stadium in Hyderabad on October 8.

A special meeting was held with corporators of GHMC on conducting the festival. Culture and Tourism Minister Chandulal said a huge Bathukamma of about 20 feet height would be set up at the LB stadium where as many as 10,000 women will participate in the festivities.

He said they hope to break the Guinness record created by Kerala women who entered Guinness Book of World Record for the largest Onam festival dance with of 5,200 women participants. Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy told the corporators to ensure that at least 20,000 women will participate in the maha bathukamma programme.

Culture and Tourism ministry secretary Burra Venkatesam informed that there will be a display with about 300 puttis at Tank bund on October 9 night.
