GHMC official held, for fake job assurance

Hyderabad, April 23: The Task Force Police have arrested a person, Vinay Kumar, a suspended bill collector of GHMC, for cheating over 50 people by promising them government jobs and charging them money for it.

Police said that,He may have collected nearly Rs.1 crore from his victims.

While coming to details, Vinay Kumar was arrested from his residence in Zamistanpur, Musheerabad, after they received a complaint from one of his victims Satish Reddy.

Police said that,"He was suspended by the GHMC two-and-a-half years ago. In a bid to make some money, he pretended to be a top-ranking government official and duped several people by promising them jobs".



He further added that the complainant Satish Reddy was promised a job at the Erramanzil Court and had taken close to 20 lakh from him.

Incidentally, the accused had also sent two of his friends, who the police identified as Suresh and Sridhar Reddy, for document verification to the victim's house.

Police recovered 1 crore cash, fake appointment orders and rubber stamps from his possession.

He was booked under section 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further investigation is going on.
