Mohanlals Black Money released

Hyderabad April 22: Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, who made his debut in the Telugu with 'Manamantha' and later he acted with Ntr in Janatha Garage and he is coming up with 'Black Money' movie.

Cast and Crew:
Director: Joshiy

Producer: Syed Nizamuddin

Music Director: Ratheesh Vegha

Starring: Mohanlal, Amala Paul

Story:
Black Money starts with Venu (Mohanlal,) who is one of the popular journalists in the city but has a fear of politics. Once, he is challenged by his fellow journalist Renu (Amala Paul,) to investigate a corruption case. After preparing a perfect plan, both of them successfully get important footage about a political leader. But unexpectedly, Renu telecasts the footage, without informing Venu and it goes viral. The twist in the story starts when the corrupt minister tries to kill both the journalists. The crux of the story is how Venu and Renu manage to escape from the minister’s plan and how the minister gets arrested.

Performances:
Like every time, Mohanlal gave a spectacular performance and he suits the character well. His performance during the investigation scenes needs a special mention. He carries the second half on his shoulders. Amala Paul looks decent in her role. Though both the actors look weird together in some scenes, their chemistry is fantastic. In both positive and negative shades, she carries off everything well. The supporting characters did a great job.

Analysis:
Director Joshiy has done a good job in terms of introducing a fresh story to the audience but somewhat failed in presenting it. The second half looks a bit boring and he drags it with some unnecessary scenes. Only, the interval bang and the first half are very interesting. Black Money somewhat turns off the audience, as it has too much of a Malayalam essence to it. Telugu dubbing is very good but the editing could have been much better. Camera work is good.
The way the media operates and the competition between rival channels was shown in an interesting way. The background score will definitely irritate the audience and some scenes in the second half test their patience.

Plus Points:
Mohanlal Performance
Amala Paul Performance
Interval bang

Minus Points:
Screenplay
Background score
second half

Verdict: Finally, Black Money has a very interesting concept, but the audience might get disappointed with the execution. The first half is much better than the second half. It is definitely a feast for the eyes of Mohanlal fans.
