Rs. 40 lakh minimum fee for bars

Hyderabad, October 4:The Telangana government has Okayed the new excise policy for bar licenses in the State which will come into effect from October 1. Excise Principal Secretary Ajay Mishra issued orders in this regard.

As per the new policy, the license fee is increased from Rs 35 lakh to Rs 40 lakh in Hyderabad. The fee in older license holders is increased by Rs 5 lakh in addition to the present fee.

The population limit is also reduced from 13,000 to 11,000 for each bar license. In districts, the population limit for each bar is also lowered from 30,000 to 25,000. This may increase the number of bars in the State.

The fee will be increased as per the area of the bar. No fee will be charged for an area of 500sq. meters. 10 % additional license fee for 501 to 750 sq meters; 20 % for 751 sq. meters to 1,000 sq. meters; 30 % for 1001 sq. meters to 5,000 sq. meters; and 40 % for area more than 5,001 sq. meters.
