YSRCP to shake hands towards Left

Vijayawada, October 3: It became a common practice for all leading political parties to seek the support of Left parties to win the elections. YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy spoke with CPM state secretary P. Madhu, in the wake of his arrest during his visit to Mega Aqua food park in Bhimavaram a few days ago.

This indicates YSRCP interest in joining hands with the Left, ahead of general elections. It was heard that Jagan extended his support for their fight. Several incidents in the past confirm that except in rare situations, the opposition parties had defeated the ruling parties only with the help of Left parties.

YSRCP already hatched plans to go with the Left in the corporation and municipal elections, pending in Andhra Pradesh to give a tight fight to the ruling TDP. And interacting with CPM Madhu was the first step to clear the way for the friendship with that party.

YSRCP, the main opposition in AP, is confident about the public support but still taking care to avoid splitting of votes. In the past also, former CM late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy gained huge public support to the Congress with his padayatra in 2004.

Political analysts say that Y.S.R was able to defeat the Telugu Desam Party only with the support of Left parties. Political sources observe that the ruling TDP has gained strength compared to its position earlier.

In this situation, YSRCP, which is also amassing public support with its continuous agitations over public problems, has to take care to stop vote splitting.

Meanwhile, it was not possible for the Left parties either to come into power or to become the main Opposition in AP. But these parties are expert in garnering support against the ruling party.
