Autonomous institution in Siddipet

Siddipet April 16: The proposed medical college at Siddipet may be converted into an autonomous institution.

In a review meeting held at Secretariat here on Saturday, officials suggested that the new medical college is made the autonomous institution. According to officials, staff, including doctors, can be retained in the college, if given autonomy.

If the institution comes under the Director of Medical Education and the Director of Health, doctors will exert pressure for transfers to Hyderabad. If it is autonomous, the staff will not be eligible for transfer. They will have to work in the college until retirement.

Health minister Laxma Reddy directed officials to begin work on the medical college and complete appointment of the staff at the earliest. The hospital will be equipped with modern infrastructure and facilities. About 25 acres has been allotted for the college at Siddipet town. Building designs are ready. They will be presented to CM K Chandrasekhar Rao for approval.
