Stage set for local body polls in AP

Amaravathi, September 27: AP State Election Commissioner Dr. Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar issued orders to conduct the by-elections to the seven town municipal corporations, four municipal corporations along with the vacant seats in local bodies.

Following this, the DPOs, ZP CEOs, commissioners of municipal and town municipal corporations and municipal RDOs are busy preparing the voters' list in the respected areas.

The voters list will be announced on October 20 and the election schedule would be released before October 25 and the elections would be held before November 15.

By-elections will be conducted for the 256 panchayat sarpanch, 1,600 ward members, seven ZPTCs, 73 MPTCs, 33 ward councilors and three town municipal corporations corporators.

District-wise details of the vacancies are like this:


ZPTCs- Etapaka (West Godavari), Sattenapalli (Guntur), Mandavalli (Krishna), Kurichedu (Prakasam), Kukunuru, Velerupadu (West Godavari), Veeraballi (Kadapa).


MPTCs - Anantapur 12, Chittoor 7, East Godavari 9, Guntur 9, Krishna 14, Kurnool 8, Nellore 1, Prakasam 8, Srikakulam 2.


Municipal councilors - Vijayanagaram 1, Visakhapatnam 1, East Godavari 5, West Godavari 2, Krishna 2, Guntur 7, Nellore 2, Chittor 2, Kadapa 6, Kurnool 1, Anantapur 5.


Corporators - Vijayawada 1, Chittoor 2.


Village sarpanch - Anantapur 15, Chittoor 22, East Godavari 12, Guntur 24, Krishna 25, Kurnool 17,
Nellore 18, Srikakulam 22, Vizag 13, Vijayanagaram 12, West Godavari 18, Kadapa 24.

The State Election Commission is gearing up to conduct elections to panchayat raj local bodies, to which elections were not held since two years for various reasons.

The Election Commissioner directed the officials to include new voters who completed 18 years and to remove the names of migrated people and deceased.
