CBI arrested postal officials

Hyderabad, April 4: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has booked a case against two postal officials based on the complaint of Superintendant J.Pandari on Monday.

The accused are treasurer Suresh Rao and Medaram Sub Postmaster Ch.Bhagat Singh working in the Postal department of Peddapalli division in a case relating to the exchange of demonetised currency.

CBI registered a case against two postal officials and unknown others on a complaint from postal department related to acts of omission or commission by postal staff during the demonetization period.

During the investigation, police revealed that amount worth Rs.6, 59,800 was found exchanged on November 9, 2016.

It was further alleged that there was a contradiction in reporting of exchange/ Withdrawn Old Series (WOS), in the records of entry made in the excel sheet of the actual forms available in the branch.

Searches were conducted at nine premises in and around the city which led to the recovery of incriminating documents.

Further investigation revealed that, Suresh Rao had exchanged the money worth of Rs. 30.76 lakhs and Bhagat Singh exchanged Rs.19.50 lakhs of the amount was recovered from those cheaters.

Both the arrested accused has been produced before the Special Judge, and begun further investigation too.
