Osmania hospital doctors strike

Hyderabad, March 25: Osmania Hospital Doctor officials have been decided to go on strike over jobs and poor salaries.

The Telangana Government Doctors Association (TGDA) served a strike notice demanding implementation of much-awaited demands. The association listed 17 demands for immediate attention of the government.

Doctors of other city hospitals such as Gandhi and Niloufer will also join them, sources said.

The doctors want all posts in the Directorate of Health (DH), Directorate of Medical Education (DME) and Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP) to be filled with government doctors only.They also want other superintendent posts to be filled with doctors only.

They want the government to stop any attempt to appoint directors for Osmania, Gandhi and other district headquartered hospitals.

"The government should implement UGC scales for doctors salary. TVVP salaries should be paid through treasury. Also, TVVP should be bifurcated immediately," they demanded.

They said all promotions and transfers should be done according to the existing government orders only.

"The state government should hike the salaries of doctors. As per the strike notice, we will wait until April 10 for the reply from the government and then take a call," Dr. Lalu Prasad, treasurer of TGDA told to the media. The association has about 3,500 registered doctors as members.
