Hyderabad, March 17: Telangana Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy has said here that, Telangana has the distinction of maintaining law and order effectively and credited the Telangana Police with it.

Instances of online child sexual abuse (OCSA) could be on the rise as understood by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of the Telangana State Police.

Even innocuous home automation could result in the stalker getting vital information about his victim, and using them to groom him/her for ulterior purposes, said the experts who spoke at a conference on prevention of online child sexual abuse, organised by the Telangana CID wing, here on Thursday.

Inspector-General of Police Sowmya Mishra, during the inaugural session, observed that children as easy targets for the virtual predators has become a matter of serious concern world over.

The recent instance where an American was apprehended for having a large stash of child porn, she said not even one case has been registered so far of OCSA in Telangana, under the relevant provisions of the IT Act.

Chairperson of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) Stuti Kakkar said child abuse could be conceptualised in virtual world and actualised in real settings by the stalker.

Complaints about sexual offences against children may be reported in the POCSO eBox facility provided in the NCPCR website, she said.
